ABA can be used to both increase and decrease behaviors.  In the case of language development we attempt to increase the use of speech sounds to accomplish three things:

1)  Use of language to request items
2)  Use of language to comment on surroundings, or obtain information regarding our surroundings
3)  Use of language to describe internal states, obtain information regarding others' internal states, or obtain information which we are currently unable to perceive

After a sufficient amount of training you will gain the skills necessary to become your child's personal speech therapist.
